Privacy Policy for OK Reading
Effective Date: May 10, 2026
Last updated: May 25, 2026
This policy covers the OK Reading application (the “App”), built by EasyMeta (the “Service Provider,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and offered as a free service on an “AS IS” basis.
We do not sell personal data. Only the limited data needed to deliver reading, listening, vocabulary, progress, and account features is gathered.
- Account information: Sign-in is optional. If you choose to sign in, we handle your email and authentication credentials to create, verify, and protect your account.
- Learning data: Reading progress, vocabulary status, quiz outcomes, preferences, and settings may be stored locally on your device and, when signed in or syncing, be linked to your account for continuity.
- Device and app information: Basic technical details — app version, platform, OS version, device model, time zone, bundle ID, and a device-generated identifier — are sent to our own servers for security, compatibility, and reliability. On iOS, this identifier is Apple’s identifierForVendor (IDFV). It is never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Reading content: The App fetches educational texts, dictionary resources, audio, and related learning materials from our servers.
- Audio recording: Certain features request microphone access to capture speech for pronunciation scoring or reading-practice feedback. Speech recognition runs entirely on your device — your voice recordings are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers, stored by us, or shared with anyone.
Precise location, contacts, photos, and payment card data are not collected through the App.
2. Third-Party Access
Personal data is not shared with third-party advertisers.
- No Advertising: No third-party advertising SDKs are bundled in the App, and we do not use IDFA or display ads.
- No Third-Party Analytics: No third-party analytics SDKs are used to track users. A crash-reporting SDK (Sentry) is included in the codebase but is disabled in the released build — no diagnostic data is sent.
- Service Providers: Trusted infrastructure providers assist with hosting, authentication, database storage, and content delivery, processing data only as needed to operate and protect the App. Our backends are reader.easymeta.au (content) and appdata.easymeta.au (account and sync).
3. Children’s Privacy
OK Reading is a general-audience app (rated 4+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Learning progress, downloaded content, dictionary resources, and settings can be stored locally on your device.
- When you sign in or enable sync, related account and learning data may reside on our servers to power those features.
- Reasonable technical and organizational measures help guard data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
- Removing the App clears local data from your device. To request deletion of any server-stored account data, please contact us using the details in Section 7.
5. Links to Other Sites
The App may contain links to external websites or resources. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party sites you visit through those links.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This policy may be revised over time. Updates will be published on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Please check this page periodically.
